This diagram is very simple. I have divided the income for a worker in Sweden with the price for gasoline.
By that I have got an estimate of the effort needed to buy a kWh of gasoline that is salary and price neutral. The effort needed to get a kWh of gasoline in 1920 is ten time higher than today. It is also obvious that the price has been almost the same since about 1960, the time in which the world has experienced wonderful progress.
What will it be within seventy years? Look at the crunch page.
